The Hamas-Iranian relationship and its trans-national impact
by Siddharth Ramana

Originally posted Thursday, April 10, 2008

Hamas is an important player as both a political force and militant entity in the context of Israeli-Palestinian relations. However, over the years the growth of Hamas has highlighted
an underlining implication of the threat it poses to the Arab regimes in the region. This threat emanates from the increasingly cosy relationship between Iran and Hamas,
which has further advanced the threatening nature of the Iranian influence in the region. This relationship therefore presents Hamas as a threat not only to the state of Israel, but also to other countries which have a rivalry with Iran.
This paper offers a look into the Trans-national impact of Hamas and argues that the relationship between Iran and Hamas makes the organisation a far more potent threat than previously estimated.
